Bang for the buck

Pleasantly surprised how I opened the box at 3 in the afternoon and laid them against my house and immediately seen 378 watts. Definitely recommend these. And the sun is going down

Semi portable, neat design with racks, great adapters, good bag

I have a few 100 and 200 watt solar panels and I was thinking to just bring one instead of a bunch of smaller ones. This thing is pretty large and weighs up fast, but on the other hand it's probably lighter than 4 100 watters. The case is nice with a handle and a padded shoulder strap that attached to the bag. Pulling out the solar panel by its own handle attached by carabiners through grommets which can also keep it closed up. Opening it up, they are pretty stiff at the joints at about 70 degrees. I laid it out flat and then grabbed the 3 metal stands. Each stand has a strap with a metal looped end that go into grommet holes in the strap. So you get basically 3 positions for angle. The stands are of decent quality and pretty sturdy.

Getting the panels on the three stand was a slight issue on the uneven grass and then I realized that each stand attaches to the solar panel with a small velcro strap. Neat. Then I found three tent style stakes that you can use to keep the bottom in place. Nice. Then when going to connect it all up, I found the really nice MC4 to "almost everything" adapter. I grow tired of playing adapter pokes and this one covers almost everything on the planet. ( I've never seen the Aviation M16 one before ) The pocket is a good size one and leaves room for other goodies.

Because its rated at 34v ( I got 36 at the mppt controller ) you can't hook this up to smaller portable generators so check before you connect. Because this design doesn't have attached plastic handles, it's all solar panel on the face and it rated at IP67 so it can get left out in the rain.

I see this as camping/RV use where you set it up for a few days at a time. It feels big and heavy but in reality it's not for 400watts rating. I love the stands because the smaller ones with kickstands never really work as well as they should. I think I'll add more holes to the stand strap or make my own with old belts or something to get a lower angle. This is a well thought out system that is "everything in the bag" and kicks out a ton of power.

Overall: I really like this set up. It is over voltage for my 250-300WH portable solar generators but will work well with larger ones and into an solar controller or RV set up. It packs up well with smart handles into a good heavy duty bag. Great MC4 to everything adapter is also included. This will get used and is certainly a keeper.

Very nice panels. I got a max of 391 watts when used with my solar system.

Most of the portable panels I have get a maximum power output of about 80-90% of their rated values. Most of the Fixed panels I have give a maximum power outage of about 95% of their rated power outage.

Most of the time with these, I am getting about 360 watts, and that is with the fall sun being a little lower than the summer sun I generally use. This works out to about 90%, which is pretty good, except yesterday my Victron showed a power input of 391 watts, which works out to be 97% of it's rated power. Throughout the day, I ended up with 2000 watt-hours of input in my solar system

The stands are a little flimsy and hard to get aligned, but once they are set up, they do a pretty good job. That said, they are still a lot better than the little piece of plastic that folds out from most of the portable panels.

They seemed heavy when I pulled them out of the shipping box, but a lot of that weight is the stands and the case. The panels by themselves are are pretty light and seem to be well constructed.

Great solar panel. Easy set up

A good sized solar panel that was easy to set up and charges by emergency battery pack without a problem. Very pleased.

Unique and effective design

I own a handful of different sized portable solar panels from 100W - 300W. I wanted just one panel that could reliably charge up a 100Ah 12V battery even in the winter with less hours of sun and lower efficiency due to the sun being lower in the sky. Solar panels generally produce about 70%-80% of their rated power so I figure a 400W panel should produce somewhere around 75% or 300W. That should charge a 100Ah battery in about 4 hours.

This solar panel has a unique design I haven't seen before. Instead of making each of the 4 panels rigid with an attached leg behind it to prop it up the way most are made, this one uses stand-alone black metal racks which the more flexible panels sit on. This design has some benefits and drawbacks.

One big benefit is that the rack can be set up and left out while at a camp site. The rack can be staked down with 3 included stakes so leaving it in place is easier than repositioning and re-staking it the next day. It also allows you to use the same sun angle you calculated the day before which eliminates the step of getting it set up right every day at a certain site.

The panels themselves are much more flexible than the semi-rigid ones used in my other portable panels. This makes the stand essential as there's just no way they'd stay in position without it. The panels are so flexible that I do wonder if they might warp over time in the hot sun or stored in the included zippered case. I can't tell about that but will try to remember and update this review if I run into any issues with panel warping.

The panel has a MC4 connector coming off the panel and also includes an adapter with MC4 on one end and 4 different connector types on the other end. There are no USB ports on the back of the panel inside the zippered pouch as are found on most of the portable solar panels I own. This is slightly disappointing as I find USB ports on a solar panel very handy for charging other devices while the main power bank is charging. It's not a huge deal though.

Overall I really like the unique design of this solar panel. I feel like it's a good option to consider, especially if you're using it in a place where you can leave the stands set up for multiple days at a time.
