Nurzviy EV Charger, Your First Ideal EV Charger
Today we will talk about how to choose an EV charger and how to charge your EV.
Generally, home charger is a safer, more practical, and convenient alternative for many people. Let us mainly introduce two levels for home charging: Level 1 and Level 2.
Level 1 chargers are easy to use. A Level 1 charger can be plugged into a regular 20 Amp AC wall outlet, which with the help of a connector, can provide an electric current for charging. You don’t have to worry about any expensive installation. You can just simply plug your EV to a standard NEMA 5-15 wall outlet and charge your EV. At 120 volts, the EV charger can give you between 3-5 miles of range per hour.
If you're someone who has short daily commutes, a Level 1 charger can be the most convenient and cost-effective solution since you can charge your EV overnight and have enough energy for the next day.
As a major upgrade from Level 1 in terms of power and charging speed, Level 2 chargers have already become the most common choice for most EV drivers. A Level 2 charger uses the same mechanism as that of Level 1. However, it requires a circuit with a much higher voltage, so these outlets may need to be specially installed in your home. A Level 2 charger can be plugged into a NEMA 14-50 outlet, or a large appliance outlet. With a higher amperage, voltage, and kilowatt capacity, a Level 2 charger can charge your EV at a much faster rate when compared with Level 1.
In essence, Level 2 chargers will take less time to fully charge your vehicle and can produce 18-28 miles of range per hour – that’s 6 times more powerful than Level 1 chargers! It significantly increases your charging efficiency while lowering your charging time.
