This solar panel is surprisingly compact when it's all folded up so it's a perfect solution for backpack, bug out bags, or any sort of mobile setup. It is only 48w, but its sufficient for powering or charging small devices. I am using this charger for my mobile radio comms case and it fits nicely in my Pelican case.

I measured the output of this solar panel with both an inline meter and a power bank with power display. The inline meter reports 19.9w and the power bank reports 19 (it doesn't report tenths). I tested at noon in mid-May at 40.28 N latitude.

This solar panel folds up pretty small. It's heavier than you'd want to carry if you're backpacking, but that's the tradeoff for a large array that delivers a lot of power. Once folded up, the case has convenient metal snaps that hold it closed.

Overall, this is a great solar panel. The tradeoff of size/weight for capacity is a reasonable one and the design of the unit is very good. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

I am thoroughly impressed with this product and I highly recommend it for outdoor activities or as a back up if your power goes out for a few days due to bad weather.

Just be aware that this product does not have a battery backup nor does it come with cords to plug into your devices. This strictly charges your products and does NOT store energy. You also want to keep your electronic item being charged out of DIRECT sunlight.

I ran a few tests:

1. With the Solar Charger in full sun, I plugged my iPhone 14 ProMax cellphone into the solar charger with a 1' cord. My phone was located in the shade of the house with a 73% charge on it. In 30 minutes the phone's charge was up to 80%.

1. In full sun I plugged in a Air 5 iPad that was at 20% charge with a 1' cord. in 30 minutes the charge was at 34%. Wow, a 14% increase in 30 minutes was impressive to me.

A few takeaways:

1. Make sure you use as short of a charging cord as possible to maximize your charging experience.
2. I did another test where the phone was at 93% charge. There wasn't as impressive of an increase. This would be true with any battery under any test because it always takes more power for that final 10% charge on any battery to get it to 100%.
